While we are proud to be on the forefront of new procedures in advanced eye care, Wolstan Eye Associates remains committed to providing the finest in general eye care. Our 30 years of success in the Los Angeles South Bay area is based on providing the whole family comprehensive care, from eye exams and glasses to meeting the special eye care needs of seniors. Our patients have entrusted their vision to us for three decades and we will continue to earn their confidence for many years to come.
Our ophthalmologists and optometrists use many procedures and tests to evaluate the health and condition of the patient's eyes. These include testing of vision with an eye chart, measurements for glasses, and evaluation of the front and back portions of the eye with special microscopes. During our exams we evaluate all patients for the need for glasses and the presence of sight-threatening eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. Thorough annual eye exams conducted by qualified and experienced ophthalmologists and optometrists are essential for establishing and maintaining healthy eyes.
Our office at Wolstan Eye Associates is staffed with experienced opticians who can determine your visual needs, and provide contact lens services. We specialize in high fashion eyewear and carry an array of designer frames which include Dolce and Gabbana, Daniel Swarovski, Prada, Gucci, Ferragamo, Juicy Coutore, Coach and many more. We also offer the recently popular Transition glasses that automatically darken under sunlight conditions. Our lens coatings are made to last, and to provide protection from UV light and glare. We carry all types of contact lenses, including gas permeable, disposable, and fashion contact lenses. Contact us today at (310) 543-2611 to schedule an appointment.
A pterygium is a wedge-shaped growth of the conjunctiva, the thin membrane that covers the white of the eye. As the point of the pterygium develops, it may extend toward the cornea, possibly obstructing vision or creating astigmatism by changing the shape of the cornea. It also may be the cause of persistent red eye or severe dry eye symptoms.
Some pterygia never develop sufficiently to create a problem, but they should be monitored by an ophthalmologist. If a pterygium does begin to intrude on vision, Wolstan Eye Associates offers pterygium excision, an outpatient procedure to remove the pterygium.

The cornea is the clear area at the front of the eye that admits light and directs it to the lens. Injury or disease can leave the cornea blurred or opaque, severely distorting or blocking vision. The surgeons of Wolstan Eye Associates can perform a cornea transplant to replace a damaged or diseased cornea, using one of several techniques.
In the traditional corneal transplant, as originally performed in 1905, the clear central portion of the patient’s cornea is replaced with that of a human donor. Recovery and restoration of clear vision can take up to 6 months to 1 year. In certain corneal disease cases (Fuch’s Dystrophy, Corneal Edema, etc.), the surgeons of Wolstan Eye Associates may be able to perform descemet's stripping endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) instead. This new procedure requires only the transplantation of the damaged inner layer of the cornea, known as the endothelium. Recovery from DSEK is easier and faster than traditional transplant. Ask your doctor at Wolstan Eye Associates to determine if DSEK is right for you.
The leading cause of blindness in people over 50 is macular degeneration, caused by the growth of abnormal blood vessels under the macula, the central portion of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue that lines the back of the eye. Leakage from these blood vessels lifts the macula, causing distortion of central vision. Without treatment, the blood vessels scar, and the distortion becomes permanent.
While macular degeneration cannot be cured, its effects can be slowed or delayed with new treatments offered at Wolstan Eye Associates. Our surgeons can stop the bleeding and prevent the growth of existing blood vessels. Unfortunately, some new abnormal blood vessels can appear in time, so that repeated treatment is needed to preserve the best possible vision for as long as possible. After treatment, your surgeon will suggest a schedule of checkups to monitor the progress of the condition.
